From April 17th to April 20th, 2025, the Society of Neuroscientists in Africa (SONA) will organise a meeting jointly with the Moroccan Association of Neurosciences at the Cadi Ayyad University in Marrakech, Morocco. Our PsyCoMed partner, Mohamed Bennis, will chair the meeting on the theme « Brain and Environment: The Challenge of the Future ».
In addition, several PsyCoMed partners will be involved in the various talks:
- Liana Fattore (IN-CNR) will participate to a symposium organised by Fatiha Chigr (Beni Mellal University) on the topic of « Early life stress, Sex differences, and Maternal influences: Insights into Brain and Behavioral disorders ». She will give a lecture on « Sex-dependent differences in the effect of pre-weaning social isolation and enrichment ».
Francisco Olucha Bordonau (UJI) along with his colleague Monica Navarro Sánchez (UJI) are organising a symposium on the theme « The signaling system of the neuropeptide relaxin 3/rxfp3 in cognitive and pain processes ». They will both respectively lead lectures on « The evolutive meaning of the relaxin3-rxfp3 system and new ways on cognition, emotion and metabolic processing » and « neuropeptidergic modulation and neural pathways in contextual fear conditioning and extinction: insights from the retrosplenial cortex and nucleus incertus ».
- Marc Landry will organise a PsyCoMed symposium entitled « Neurological disorders caused by Mediterranean pollutants ». Three researchers who are part of the PsyCoMed consortium will take part in this symposium and make presentations.
- Said Galai (UTM) « Implementation of new protocols for Glyphosate and its byproduct detection. Application for demonstration of neurotoxicity by in vitro N2a cells culture »
- Yassine Ait Bali (Mohamed V University) « Insight on the neurotoxicity of glyphosate: Anxiogenic effect and underlying mechanisms »
- Zineb Bouargane (UCA) « The alterations in normal behavior in adult rats resulting from nanoplastic intoxication of their mothers during pregnancy and/or lactation »
- Marc Landry (UB) « Neuroinflammatory Mechanisms of Pain Hypersensitization in a Mouse Model of ADHD »
- Olfa Masmoudi and Taoufik Ghrairi (UTM) will organise a symposium on the theme « Management of Neurodegenerative Disorders by Potential Bioactive Compounds ». They will respectively lead presentations on « Protective and Neurotrophic Effects of OctaDeca Neuropeptide (ODN) in in vitro and in vivo models of neurodegenerative diseases » and « A Proteomic Analysis to Study Neuroprotective Bioactivity of Essential Oil ». In addition, Amira Zaky (AU) will give a talk entitled « Implication of differential targeting of key cellular modulators in pain management ».
This event will be an incredible opportunity to shed light on the various expertises of the researchers involved in the PsyCoMed project, but also to share with the scientific community the first results which were made possible by the European project. This meeting will also be a milestone to the next Mediterranean Neuroscience Society Meeting which will take place in Greece in June 2025.
